Growing up an only child, sharing is not exactly one of my strongest skills. To this day, I still get anxious when I have to share my things. There are only a handful of people that I can share with and not feel this way. When it comes to relationships - family, friends, my boyfriend - I can get quite protective and I also get that similar anxious feeling when I have to "share" them with people I'm not too fond of. I look forward to becoming a parent one day and Jonathan's discussion really struck a chord. If I am already so protective of the people I love and care for, what will that feeling be like between my child and me? However, perhaps realising and becoming aware of this early on will lessen the anxiety when the time comes.
I'm still working on my sharing skills and I think it will be something I'll be working on for a long time. Honestly speaking, I don't think I'll ever be fully comfortable in the sharing department but I am, after all, a work in progress.
Are you currently working on improving certain skills?
Cheers,
Jordyn xx
